Why would anyone listen to black metal?

An important but minority part of my musical diet is black metal. Yes, the kind of music associated with church burnings and satanism. In this video I try to explain why something like that attracts me, and how I personally navigate the compexities of the genre. Hopefully this is interesting even if you don't care for the genre, as it touches on our overall relationship with music, emotions, and art as a whole.

This is the first in a series of videos where I ask "why would anyone listen to [X]". I have other genres planned, as well as certain music formats. Is there anything you'd like to see me tackle in this series?
